Davie is one of the few Broward municipalities with its own irrigation ordinance on the books — Town Code Chapter 25-32 — rather than simply deferring to the county. The schedule matches the countywide rule, but the local ordinance means enforcement runs through the town.
Two different water utilities inside one town
Most of Davie is served by Town of Davie Utilities. But the area west of University Drive, north of Sheridan Street and south of State Road 84 is served by the City of Sunrise. If you have ever been confused about who to call about a water issue, that is why. It matters for irrigation because Sunrise publishes its own additional rules — including new-sod hours and a hard Friday prohibition — that Davie's own pages do not mention.
Ranch properties and oversized systems
Davie's agricultural and equestrian zoning means genuinely large irrigated areas, often on well water, often with systems that grew a zone at a time as the property developed. The recurring problems we find are undersized mainlines feeding zones that were added years after the original design, mixed head types sharing a valve, and pumps working well past their duty rating. A system that was correct for two acres in 2005 is frequently wrong for the same property today.
Shallow rock
Davie sits on the soil types that carry limestone and marl close to the surface, and crews here regularly hit rock twelve to twenty-four inches down. That drives laterals shallower than ideal, which is why so many Davie repairs are mechanical damage — an edger, a fence post, a shovel — rather than material failure. Where we cannot get depth, we reroute rather than pretend, usually under a bed line or along a hardscape edge where nothing sharp is going to meet it.
Your watering days
Two days a week, year round. Odd-numbered addresses water Wednesday and Saturday. Even-numbered addresses water Thursday and Sunday. Permitted hours are midnight to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to midnight. Private wells are not exempt, regardless of what a previous contractor may have told you.
